Soprano Lynn L. Mackie's vocal career began with an invitation to study in Italy with renowned vocal coach Pieralba Soroga in 1997. Within a few short years, she completed her perfessional solo European debut performing on some of the world's most well known stages. This experience propelled her into several principal roles throughout her vocal career with various opera companies in the United States and Abroad.
She has been applauded for her unique style, expressive vocal arrangements and interpretation, as well as her unique infusion of classical and soulful music and elegant stage presence.
Her career has taken her to some of the world’s most famous opera houses, cathedrals, castles, and concert halls. Lynn Mackie has become particularly well known to operatic audiences across Europe, including France, England, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Italy where she studied and began her vocal career. Mrs. Mackie has performed several leading opera roles throughout her vocal career with various opera companies across the United States and Europe. Some of the roles that she has performed include; Rosalinda in “Die Flerdermause”, Countessa in “Le Nozze di Figaro”, Blanche in “Les dialogues des Carmelites”, and Magda in “LaRondine” to name a few.
Mrs. Mackiehas also done several major recordings and worked with recording artist in classical, gospel and popular music. She has released three albums and one “Live in Concert” DVD and recently completed her fourth CD recording titled "From my Heart". She has also performed as the featured artist with several renowned choirs and orchestras in Europe and the United States.
In May of 2000, Mrs. Mackie founded the Italian Opera Study Abroad program Inc. in Pisa, Italy. She is passionate about educating young minds and giving them the opportunity to study and perform classical music and opera on an international level, in hopes to train a new generation of classical singers and performers. This program allows a select group of students pursuing careers in music to come to Italy for the summer with Mrs. Mackie and study under world renowned vocal coaches, professors and opera singers. Students study for 1 month and perform in concert with Mrs. Mackie as a finale across Italy. While in Italy, Mrs. Mackie also takes the students to various cities in Italy and across Europe to experience the vast European culture.
Along with her performances in Italy every summer, Mrs. Mackie also teaches a course she designed entitled “Singing with Soul” and it has become widely popular among the Italians in the Tuscany region.
This year Mrs. Mackie is introducing a new program called IOSA Jr. which introduces young singers and performersbetween the ages of 11- 17 to classical music and opera while allowing them the opportunity to attend vocal workshops in the United States and prepare them to study opera in Italy.
Today as she continues to perform in concert in the United States and Europe, she has been applauded for her creative and expressive vocal arrangements and she is recognized as one of today's most exciting sopranos, with her unique infusion of classical, gospel and jazz music.
Lynn is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in vocal performance and community service including awards of distinction.
